CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm breaks down Duke’s NCAA Tournament odds entering games at Georgia Tech, North Carolina

Duke’s NCAA tournament outlook took a hit over the weekend with Saturday’s 80-73 overtime loss against Louisville, but do the Blue Devils still have a path to March Madness? With upcoming matchups away from Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina, CBS Sports bracketologist Jerry Palm believes so.

“For Duke, they’ve got at Georgia Tech, at (North) Carolina to end the regular season — that’s two bubble teams that they’re competing with, road games,” Palm said Monday on CBS Sports HQ. “I mean, wins there could put Duke in the bracket — possibly, at the expense of one or both of those teams. So that — it’s a good time for Duke, at least with their schedule. But they’re going to have to play well to win those games.”

Duke (11-9, 9-7 ACC) faces the Yellows Jackets (13-8, 9-6) ahead of a finale against UNC (15-8, 9-5). A loss to the Cardinals (13-5, 8-4) snapped a four-game winning streak for the Blue Devils.

“I don’t think it was too much time between games, but — I think you said, kind of about the complacency — I felt like, in the first half, we kind of played that way,” said sophomore forward Wendell Moore. “We won a couple games, we were happy with ourselves and we didn’t know that this was going to be that type of game. Louisville was coming in here off a win against Notre Dame but the loss to Carolina, and so they were coming in here to prove something. And they knocked us back first. I mean, I feel like in the second half and in overtime, we played winning basketball. We just didn’t get the job done tonight.”

While head coach Mike Krzyzewski did not necessarily agree with a complacent description, he did acknowledge that the Blue Devils lacked focus until later on.
